About Northern Tuning

Northern Tuning was founded with a single goal in mind: solve the emissions problems that diesel owners face every day.

Working in the forestry, agriculture, and mining industries, we saw firsthand what causes the most downtime for equipment and diesel trucks. Machines that are built to work in some of the harshest environments in the world were being sidelined by one common issue — emissions systems.

Repeated breakdowns, costly repairs, and constant regeneration cycles became a major frustration for operators, contractors, and fleet owners alike. What should have been reliable equipment was instead becoming a source of unnecessary expense and lost productivity.

That experience led to the creation of Northern Tuning.

With a deep understanding of how diesel engines are designed, how they operate under heavy loads, and the environments they work in, we began developing solutions to address these real-world problems. By applying our mechanical experience and calibration knowledge, we started creating tuning solutions that help customers reduce emissions-related failures while improving overall engine performance and reliability.

As Northern Tuning continued to grow, we expanded our tuning operation with the addition of a chassis dynamometer for light-duty diesel trucks. This allowed us to spend countless hours analyzing engine data, reviewing calibration changes, and refining our tuning strategies.

The knowledge gained from this process accelerated our progress in the calibration space — not only for pickup truck tuning, but for heavy equipment applications as well.

As demand for heavy equipment tuning rapidly increased, we made the decision to focus entirely on the sector where we could provide the greatest value to our customers. Northern Tuning has since transitioned away from light-duty dyno development to dedicate our efforts strictly to heavy-duty equipment calibrations across all sectors.

Today, Northern Tuning is recognized as one of North America's largest heavy equipment tuning providers, helping customers across forestry, construction, agriculture, mining, and industrial industries keep their machines running at their full potential.
